五十岚奈奈（深田恭子饰）是个活泼的有氧潜水教练，她的丈夫大器（松山健一饰）在玩具工厂上班。大器心地善良，但作为丈夫却有一点点不可靠。夫妇二人住在小公寓里，为了能买房而存钱。大器的母亲希望早日抱上孙子，奈奈和大器却很享受二人世界。后来，以购入居民集体设计小区住宅为契机，这对夫妇开始了“造人计划”，但没有成功。他们这才意识到生孩子是不是件轻而易举的事，于是，奈奈和大器开始了艰难的怀孕活动。除了怀孕之路困难重重之外，五十岚的身边还有“想要小孩的情侣”、“离婚男与不想要小孩的妻子”、“男同志情侣”、“追求理想家庭的主妇与家里蹲丈夫”等各种各样的家庭，家家都有一本难念的经 。
